Canada Education Savings Grant (RESP)
The Government of Canada adds 20% to money you put into a child's Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), up to $500 a year and $7,200 in a lifetime. Lower-income families get an extra 10% or 20% on the first $500 saved each year.

- Child lives in Canada
- Up to end of the year the child turns 17
- Contributions are made to the RESP
What you need to apply:
- SIN for the child and for you
- An RESP with a promoter
You choose how the money is kept: as cash or in investments, including halal (Shariah-compliant) options. Group plans can charge fees, and some keep your earnings if you stop paying.
