Employment Insurance pays money to people who are away from work because they are pregnant, just gave birth, or are caring for a new or newly adopted child. Maternity and standard parental pay 55% of earnings up to $729 a week. Extended parental pays 33% up to $437 a week. Up to 15 weeks maternity, plus up to 40 weeks standard or 69 weeks extended parental shared between parents.
