EI caregiving benefits (family caregiver and compassionate care)
Employment Insurance pays people who leave work to care for someone who is critically ill or injured, or needs end-of-life care. Up to 35 weeks for a child under 18, up to 15 weeks for an adult, and up to 26 weeks of compassionate care for end-of-life care. You do not have to be related, but you must be like family.

- Person is critically ill, injured or dying
- Weekly pay dropped over 40% for 1 week+
- 600 insured hours in the last 52 weeks

- Signed authorization to release medical info
- Your SIN, bank details and Records of Employment
